Advocacy
What is Advocacy?
Advocacy means taking action to advocate to create positive change. Advocacy is important because it allows individuals to have their voices heard and engages the community in change. Advocacy influences awareness and can impact public policy. Youth gain problem solving skills and learn to work collaboratively when they are advocating. Although advocacy works to fight for the rights of marginalized individuals and groups in society, another positive impact of advocacy is the discovery and promotion of resources/services that may be needed. Often, people are unaware of injustices and advocacy is about educating others in the community and working together to create change.
