Creating a Safer Home
Clackamas County offers resources for creating a safer home and preventing family, friends and loved ones from unauthorized use of firearms and misuse of medications. In addition to secure storage items to prevent unauthorized use of a firearm and misuse of medications, Clackamas County residents can also receive free drug dissolving pouches, learn where to get naloxone and learn about locations for drug take back sites. In addition, the National Shooting Sports Foundation's Firearm Industry Trade Association, in partnership with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention has developed this Suicide Prevention Toolkit to help firearm retailers, shooting ranges and customers understand risk factors and warning signs related to suicide, know where to find help and encourage secure firearms storage options.
